Rude Awakening......

I came down with some kind of bug over the weekend--sore throat, sniffles, achy all over, feel exhausted--you know the drill. Ugh. I knew it was bound to happen. It's that time of year. Not only is the temperature going back and forth--warm, cold, warm, cold--but--every time we go into any of the stores there's--people. People coughing, and sneezing everywhere. Yuck. And, the adults are usually as bad as the little kids with not covering their faces. How rude! So--there's all those little germies flying around in the air, just waiting for us to breathe them.
So--last night I couldn't sleep. I tossed and turned, but was awake until around 4:30 or 5:00 this morning. Apparently, I finally fell asleep, because around 10:30 AM, I was awakened--quite suddenly--with the door bell ringing, someone pounding on the door, and the dog barking his head off! You know how you come up from the layers of sleep, thinking what the--heck? Man!
So I jumped out of bed--ran to the closet for a robe--went flying down to the door. I'm thinking that it must be a neighbor in quite and emergency, or something, right? Well--there was some lady delivering flowers. What the heck?
She says, "Amy Littleton?" I say, "No". She says, "Amy Littleton, right". I say, "No". She says, "Well, this is 24th Place, right?" I say, "No--this is 23rd ! She was "oh, so sorry." Argh.
Well, the damage was done. There was no going back to bed. At this point the dog was doing his pee pee dance, as well as his poo poo prance. He wanted out NOW. I let him out in self-defense. After all--I'd have to clean it up if I didn't. Sigh.
So, now I'm exhausted, feel yucky, and don't feel like doing anything productive. Oh, well. Such is life. What can I do? I guess I could go take a nap. It's getting kind of late for that, though. Maybe just a little one, though........

Well, Thanksgiving went well on Thursday. Our guest was our 85 year old neighbor lady. She's down here for the winter from Michigan. She's a real pip! She's healthy as a horse, doesn't take any medicines, and doesn't go to the doctor. She said that if she goes that he'll find something wrong with her! LOL
She gets up at 5:00 AM, and goes to bed at 9:00 PM. She trims her own bushes, washes her own windows, vacuums, cleans the bathrooms--everything herself. She drives a beautiful red Cadillac. She goes to church, does her shopping, and everything all by herself.
I only wish I had her energy!

My husband smoked a turkey out on the grill using apple chips. It was fantastic--so nice and juicy! We had white and rye bread stuffing made with portabella mushrooms, Yukon gold mashed potatoes, yams, baby carrots, rolls, cornbread, and gravy. For dessert there was cherry pie with vanilla ice cream and Cool Whip. My neighbor brought a whipped Jello salad made with carrot, pineapple, and nuts. It was topped with Cool Whip, coconut, and nuts. It was delicious.
She played my piano for a lttle bit, too. She loved it!

Last night we did a little shopping-groceries and things mainly. We did find the Doodle Bears that our grandkids wanted, though. We had never heard of such a thing! Here I am--walking around the Toy Dept. in Wal-Mart-talking to my daughter in Virginia from Florida on my cell phone--trying to figure out what these bears were, and where they would be. They're teddy bears that you can write on with the special markers. You can wash them, then you can write on them some more. The pink bear that my granddaughter Hannah wanted has a flashlight that you can see the writing glow in the dark! The one my grandson Bruno wanted was a green Doodle Monster. I finally found them! Whew!
Now, tonight, we still have to go out and find the "Hulk Hands", a Barbie Pegasus head that changes hair color, and a bunch of other things. Plus, I have to buy for my nieces and nephews.

I really hate going out, fighting the traffic, finding a parking space, fighting the crowds, standing in lines--it really puts a damper on my Christmas spirit. I do, however like it when we're all done. I don't mind sitting here wrapping--knowing that I don't have to go out, anymore! Yay!

Well--I'd better get going, and get ready to go. Hopefully, we'll get a lot done tonight. Stay tuned!

I have been soooo busy today. There was so much to do to get the house ready for company tomorrow. Yes, we're only having one guest, but I want the house to be clean, and presentable!

It's been really tough with the hurricanes. Three in the last year! Frances was bad enough--but, then, along came her big, mean sister Jeanne exactly 3 weeks later to the day!
It's been very traumatic, and we're still not repaired from them. The insurance company is being a real pain. Then, Wilma had to come along last month. Man, oh, man. We lost more soffett and fascia, and have more repairs to do. We were without power for 5 days. Plus, all the money we spent on supplies, and gas to run the generator. Sigh.

Now, here it is the holidays. I can't believe that Thanksgiving is tomorrow. That means Christmas is in ONE MONTH! Aahh!!. No pressure, no pressure.
I know that someway, somehow, I'll get through it--I always do. It's just getting to be a bit much with so many hurricanes, plus life, plus the holidays. Beam me up Scottie!

So, I'd better get back to mopping that floor. Times a wastin'!
